Biography & Artist's Statements

Nancy Lewis (aka Nancy Lewis-Lentz) was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1955. In the early 1970's she studied under Eugene Tonoff in Providence, RI. whose visionary philosophy inspired her to continue studying art at the University of Rhode Island, Philadelphia College of Art and 1981 obtained a B.F.A. from Cleveland Institute of Art.

Nancy has always been in awe the natural world beauty and magic. Through color, texture, composition and creative energy she captures the natural state which will forever remind us of our humanity. "As human beings we have special talents no other creatures have: Thinking, reacting, creating, and remembering. I believe that an impactfully created piece of art stimulates thoughts and reactions, and connects memory and emotions which we have experienced, are experiencing, or will experience in the future."

For the last 25 years, Nancy Lewis has enjoyed a successful art career as a graphic artist: painter, website graphic designer, and computer aided designer and drafter for engineering projects. Over this time period, she has taught art, CAD and computer graphics, and engineering software at the Fairmont Art Center, the Professional Training Center, Colorado Institute of Art and Arapahoe Community College.

Because of Nancy's love for adventure and the great outdoors, she embarked on an epic bicycle adventure from 2006 to 2009. She and her husband completed a 14,000 self supported bicycle trip from Inuvik, Canada to Puerto Montt, Chile. The vast range of cultural experiences was captured through paintings, drawings, photos, and a detailed blog which can be viewed at www.hobobiker.com or www.nancylewisart.com
