Biography & Artist's Statements

Steven Smith, a retired veteran of the United States Army, has studied photography in programs at Colorado Mesa University and the State University of New York at Brockport. He enjoys shooting sporting events and long exposure photography, primarily of active subjects such as dancers and performers.  The creative possibilities of painting with light and shadow are his passion.

 

Steven's images have been selected for recognition and display by such prestigious institutions and magazines as; the Grand Junction Community Art Gallery, Mesa University Marketing Department, the United States Air Force Academy, the Historic Avalon Theater, the Grand Junction Arts and Culture Commission, the Two Rivers Convention Center, Photography Forum Magazine, and the Raw Canvas Tattoo and Art Gallery.

 

Originally from Ohio, Steven now lives in Grand Junction, Colorado with his wife, Sanda, their dogs Larry, Clyde, and Walter. He enjoys travel and spending time with his three children and nine grandchildren.
